Golf Goals 2018

2018 Goals

Goals is something I’ve never really done before but it seems quite a big thing in golf this year, so I thought why not jump on the band wagon & give it a try.

I’m going to write out some of my goals for this season and i’ll keep updating them as the season progresses, maybe adjusting them if they get unrealistic or adding new ones if i achieve them early.

Complete the winter league under par

We play through the winter with the 10 best Stableford rounds counting towards the winter league.

I’ve currently played 9 rounds & i’m sitting on +22, that still sounds pretty terrible but getting towards the end of the competition now I can start to replace some of my worst rounds so i’m hoping a couple of good rounds could see this turn around quickly.

I had a shaky start coming in +10 after 3 rounds & then the horrendous +14 in a single round, the latest 2 rounds have been even par & +4.

I’d love to get this back under par by the end of the competition, giving me an under par average for 10 rounds, it is starting to feel like an uphill struggle though.

Looking for the birdies!

Over the course of my first season at the club i recorded 5 birdies & 64 pars in competition golf.

I’d like to improve on both of these this season, now that i know my way around the course better, know the greens better.

I’d like to get to double figures for birdies & 75 pars feels achievable.

I hit a great start to this target with the first competition round of 2018 with 2 birdies & 4 pars already.

Win 2 midweek competitions

This ones quite simple, we have a Stableford competition every Wednesday through the summer. I want 2 of them!

Win any main competition

This is any club competition, named competition, board competition. I didn’t come close last year so improvement needed.

Progress past the first round of either the knockout or pairs knockout

We were fairly new members playing in the knockouts last year so we didn’t put up much of a fight, this year things will be different!

Get the handicap heading back in the right direction

Towards the end of 2017 i slipped from 15 to 16 handicap. I’d like to get that shot back and set a new personal low for the handicap which is currently 14.7.

First competition of 2018 was a buffer zone finish, so the handicap is still sat on 15.7.
